Where do your assessments take place?

We come to you to undertake our assessments – this is so the child, adolescent or adult we are assessing feels as ease. Where this is not possible we have use of a venue in Bedford, which is easily accessible.

Will my child’s school, local authority or children’s mental health service recognise a diagnosis that is made privately?

The main reason why someone would question a diagnosis is if the assessment is low quality. A high-quality assessment is one that includes consideration of alternative explanations and is completed by experienced and suitably qualified clinician.

The diagnostic assessments that we at Cognition Clinical Psychology offer are thorough and in line with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and adhere to the DSM-V-TR Criteria’s. There is therefore no reason for another agency to not recognise a diagnosis made by us. You will receive a report that evidences the reason for our decision-making. We have had no issues with our diagnostic reports but please be assured if there were ever to be any issues we could speak to agencies on your behalf with your consent.

What are your fees?

The assessments we provide have clear pricing and we do not have any hidden costs. We provide a fixed price service regardless of how long it takes us to complete an assessment. For more information please see our fees page.

Yes — we can provide a letter confirming that your appointment was for a psychological assessment. This can be used to authorise your absence from school or work, as the appointment qualifies as a medical reason.
